Sleepytime Gorilla Museum in Pittsburgh
From Rec.Music.Progressive:
MONDAY MAY 13, 8:00 P.M.
Heavy avant-rock group SLEEPYTIME GORILLA MUSEUM
with local Pittsburgh electronic/horror duo ZOMBI
California-based Sleepytime Gorilla Museum bring
a new sound to avant-rock
with male and female vocals and a variety of their
own custom instruments
and found percussion. Their music provides
a range of moods including
tense, angular melodies, heavy metallic riffs,
and quiet contemplation,
and has evoked comparisons to the Art Bears, Thinking
Plague, King
Crimson, and more. They've made quite a name
for themselves during heavy
touring, but this is their first show in Pittsburgh,
as part of an
extensive national tour. More information
can be found at
http://www.sleepytimegorillamuseum.com/
(with two full song mp3s listed
under "Installations and Exhibits").
ZOMBI is Steve Moore (bass, synthesizers) and A.E.
Paterra (drums,
synthesizers), producing creative electronic music
reminiscent of early
Ash Ra Tempel and the soundtrack work of Goblin.
Information and mp3s can
be found at http://www.emayhem.com/zombi
(including "Andromeda" recorded
live on WRCT).
